PA Students Become Medical Challenge Bowl Champs

image1-2Physician Assistant (PA) students at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences went undefeated in a challenge bowl competition held recently at the Virginia Academy of PA’s (VAPA) fall CME conference in Richmond.

Team members are Stephanie Bruton, Jackie Hroback, and Rebecca Puetz. Kelli Cash served as alternate. With the victory, the students — who are all members of the MDCHS inaugural PA class — are the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Inaugural Medical Challenge Bowl Champions.

“I am exceedingly proud and not that surprised. I know I speak for our faculty involved in the challenge bowl practice sessions, when I say how impressed we are with their knowledge,” said David Paulk, assistant professor and director of the PA program at MDCHS. “These students embody the very best of all our wonderful students in the program and they showed their best in front of other programs and practicing PAs.”

Their next competition in May will be on the national stage at the American Academy of PA’s Annual Conference in Las Vegas.  They will take on students from close to 200 other programs.
