Concrete moves under

Purpose laden steps

Leaving cracks

Like bread crumbs

I take solace in the earth

Gently breaking under foot

Inviting new life to

Enter

Nature is welcoming

But birds leave me be

Staying busy with the

Bread crumbs of others

Imperishable footprints

Reap beauty or tragedy

Depending upon the stride

In one’s step
