Mary Baldwin University’s Mathematics Department invites applications for a fixed term, renewable position at the assistant or associate professor level. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Our ideal candidate is committed to active and engaged teaching at every level of the undergraduate curriculum, including supervision of undergraduate thesis research by senior math majors. Fields of specialization are open and should complement existing faculty expertise in logic and algebraic topology (with interest in applications of math in computer science) to cover a fairly broad curriculum in a small department. Experience with differentiation of instruction to reach a wide variety of students will be valuable. Scholarship related to or interest in applied mathematical fields is an advantage, especially those that relate to data science and applied computer science and could bolster plans for a data analysis program.

Primary responsibilities include teaching seven courses per year, academic advising of students, and service to the university to support shared governance. The new hire will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarly engagement appropriate to the discipline.

Qualifications: PhD and previous college-level teaching experience preferred (ABD considered).
