Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences (MDCHS), Mary Baldwin University, located in Fishersville, VA is seeking a Director for the Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) track as part of the recently launched Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

Summary of Position:

This position is a full-time, 12-month, benefits eligible position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Qualified candidates must have an earned Doctorate (DNP, PhD, DNS) degree and be a Certified Advanced Practice Nurse with a specialty in Adult Gerontology- Acute Care, with at least 5 years of clinical practice. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of excellence in academic leadership and teaching. Responsibilities will include administration of the AG-ACNP program, teaching, and academic advising. The candidate should be comfortable working in a highly interprofessional, collaborative teaching and learning environment.

Professional Qualifications:


  • An earned Doctorate (DNP, PhD, DNS) degree and be a Certified Advanced Practice Nurse with a specialty in Adult Gerontology- Acute Care, with at least 5 years of clinical practice.
  • A record of excellence in academic leadership and teaching.
  • A strong teaching dossier that includes a statement of teaching philosophy, course evaluations, and a record of previous teaching accomplishments and innovations submitted as part of the application.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including an ability to work effectively within a team that is comprised of multiple stakeholders such as faculty, senior administration, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and mentorship as an advocate for change and new ideas
  • A willingness to engage with the institution and the faculty to share knowledge and expertise in their subject area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or understanding of online educational learning and teaching including use of learning technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in various Learning Management Systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with Apple IOS products
