Position Summary:

Mary Baldwin University is currently recruiting part-time Multimedia specialists to support the MBU Online Division. Are you an individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and enjoys developing creative media products? Do you have a desire to create engaging educational visuals and videos that improve the learning experience? If so,come join us as a Multimedia Specialist. This position will partner with faculty, subject matter experts (SMEs), and learning experience designers in the development of high quality learning experiences. The Multimedia specialist will ideate with the design team to identify the media scope and assist in the creation of more involved assets. This position conceptualizes, processes, and produces audio, video, animations, visual, and interactive multimedia for a variety of audiences, platforms, and outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Learning Asset Creation

The Multimedia Specialist will develop educational multimedia products that support the learning within an MBU Online course. They will discuss requirements with faculty, SMEs, and learning experience designers as well as ideate potential media solutions. The Multimedia Specialist will create content using video, photography, graphics, illustrations, and sound. All assets will need to embed seamlessly into MBU’s LMS and be fully mobile compatible. This role is meant to augment MBU Online’s existing services.

MBU Online Team Asset Creation

In addition to creating assets for courses, the Multimedia Specialist will assist in the creation of presentations, infographics, and other assets for the MBU Online team. They will assist in the ideation of the asset and then work independently to create the product within the given timeline. These assets will support everyone on the MBU Online team including the Chief Online Officer & VP for the University.

With either asset type, the Multimedia Specialist will be proficient with the main Adobe Creative Suite products (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). They will have a knack for visual storytelling where they are able to take complex ideas and make them clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand. This role is about conceptualizing complex or abstract ideas and working with a learning design team to distill, refine, and communicate their complex messages.

Required Qualifications:

  • A proven leader with video, audio and Web experience.
  • Extensive experience with Articulate products and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • An accomplished career in multimedia storytelling (including expertise in digital and video photography)
  • Experience in video/audio editing and video post production, including knowledge of current software, are required.
  • Experience in basic animation as well as graphic arts. Strong attention to detail and willingness to probe for deep understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including professional written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organization skills and proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects at one time.
  • Diplomacy, sound judgment and ability to work with tact and professionalism with all members of the team.
  • Can manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and flexible team-player.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and professional effectiveness skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with html and CSS
  • Previous experience in a higher education setting.
