Position Description

The Graduate Assistant for the Office of the University Registrar will work with student academic records. This position requires attention to detail and the utmost confidentiality. The Graduate Assistant will work will provide services to students, faculty, and staff. They will provide support for any new initiatives that may develop throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide service to students in person, on the telephone and via email
  • Assist with both administrative paperwork and student record updates in the Jenzabar Student Information System
  • Provide Office coverage as necessary
  • Support the Office of the University Registrar in any new initiatives that may develop throughout the year


  • Experience with customer service and supervisory experience would be helpful
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with basic office equipment, such as printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Academic and Professional Skills Resulting from this Assistantship

  • Increase or develop experience in project management
  • Augment communication and analytical skills
  • Learn how to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Terms of Employment

This position is a ten-month position (August-May) which may be renewable. The work hours are twenty hours/week during the academic year, hours to be determined by the University Registrar.   

Compensation is $5,000 and up to an 18-hour tuition waiver (contingent upon acceptance into the Master’s Program at Mary Baldwin University).
