Job title:  Chaplaincy Intern

Supervisor:  Dr. Katherine Low, University Chaplain 

 Office/Department:  Office of the Chaplain

Job Duties:  The Chaplaincy Intern assists the Office of the Chaplain with informal chaplaincy duties, such as lounge maintenance, event planning, community building, and campus spiritual support. As a result, the Chaplaincy Intern will gain professional connections in the field and will be able to discern if chaplaincy is a good fit for them. The intern will represent the Office of the Chaplain to religious constituencies within the community. Close involvement with the work of the Quest Interfaith Council is required. The Chaplaincy Intern will observe, engage with, and reflect upon the multiple roles of chaplaincy in a higher education setting, conducting research that will help gain a working vocabulary for the profession while gaining skills in leadership, teamwork, and time management. Regular meetings with the Chaplain are required.

  • Self-motivation, since many of the work hours take place independently rather than in the office
  • Help maintain the Chaplain’s Lounge
  • Be conscientious in their performance
  • Maintaining confidentiality as needed
  • Collect information and data
  • Be willing to take on different responsibilities through the year as they arise
  • Assist with events sponsored by the Office of the Chaplain
  • Engage in research projects as discussed throughout the year

Length of Employment: current 2022-2023 academic year, with renewal for 2023-2024 academic year
