Alumni-Led Education Symposium Returns

Mary Baldwin University hosted the education symposium, “The Challenge of Change: Meeting the Needs of the 21st Century Learner,” Oct. 21–22. After successfully launching the campus’s first education symposium last February, the same group of MBU alumni volunteered their time and partnered with MBU’s College of Education to put on the conference for 2016–17. Co-organizers Amanda Lynch ’02/’06 and Courtney Leard ’02 spearheaded planning the programmatic aspects of the conference, while the College of Education stepped in to provide logistical and promotional support.ware069_19267_full-1

The conference was aimed at pre-service educators to help prepare them to enter the classroom and covers topics impacting PK–12 students and teachers. Participants choose sessions from three track options: socio-emotional topics, the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) content area, and the humanities content area.
