The Myth of the Rose
Have you seen a rose grow from concrete?
I never have.
I’ve seen dog shit, a kid getting stomped,
and used condoms on concrete.
But never a rose.
Maybe the dog shit on the rose.
Or maybe the stomped kid
was lying on top of the rose.
Maybe a man picked the rose and gave it to
a lady friend
And they got it on in a nearby alley.
I’m not sure if roses grow in urban jungles.
But I know they’re sold on corners.
Some people sell roses.
Some Rosas sell themselves.
