Wasteland

I am from everywhere

                                        Nowhere

The song of my people is Babel

             I am a mountain mermaid

                          A jungle polar bear.

                                        A soaring pufferfish.

I am out of place everywhere

                                                                    I am always home.

I hear the voices of my parents

They are so tied to hearth and home

                                                                                 comfortable

                                                                    Were they once so unsettled?

I belong in all this world

Every desert, every waterfall.

I live in the valley of longing, I rest in the desert of desire. I have an ancient soul

             That wanders through the earth

In the trees

                                                                     wind

                         waves

                                                                                                                valleys

                                                        Wasteland

When will I reach home
