Position Description/Responsibilities
This position provides one-to-one support to MBU students by coaching in the preparation of resumes, cover letters and applications, interviews, designing/leading workshops, as well as assisting students in locating specific information and resources.
Peer Career Advisors also assist professional staff with the following projects:
1) co-design promotional material to advertise services and upcoming programs
2) assist with writing copy or articles for the newsletter and blog assist in promoting various recruiters
3) other projects as personal interests and office needs warrant.
Special skills or knowledge you need:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills (you love working with people/helping others)
- Self-starter
- Team Player
- Strong work ethic
- Experience working with students in a tutoring and/or mentoring capacity
- Some knowledge of graphic design preferred
Skills you will develop:
- Professional development coaching skill set (framework for working with individuals and helping them discover and reach goals, client services, recruiting students for programming/1:1 services)
- Project management (program design and implementation in cooperation with Vantage Point Team)
- Enhanced understanding of personal and professional development tools (life design, goal visioning, professional document review/feedback)
- Professional development-learn how to create an effective professional portfolio (resume, cover letter, interview, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Professional communication skills (emails, proposals, professional presentation design and delivery
