Position Description: Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and AVP of Enrollment, the Financial Aid Counselor/Assistant Director of Financial Aid is primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service as the first point of contact to students and families, prospective and current student awarding and supporting all financial aid office functions. This position is part of a team.

Job Functions:

  • First point of contact with students and families on site
  • Advise and counsel prospective and current students and their families
  • Maintain the financial aid email account
  • Record and process financial aid documents
  • Responsible for oversight, request, and reconciliation of the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) program
  • Award online and graduate financial aid
  • Send follow up communication to prospective students
  • Attend visit days (virtual and on campus)
  • Assist with FAFSA nights and support of local high schools
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in a financial aid setting preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task. Attention to detail. Some weekend and evening hours will be required. Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with other offices. Thorough understanding of state, and federal financial aid programs and regulations. Experience with financial aid software and integration with other systems. Must have Microsoft Office skills.
