Job Duties: This position is the trainee position for holding the Lead Video Archivist and Videographer position in the student’s second year at MBU. This employee will learn to digitize the program’s older productions, dating back to 2001, that were recorded on video tape and video camera smaller tapes. This employee will document progress on a spreadsheet. The student will also help the Lead videographer film all student theater productions, including those presented by the MFA Company, the 2nd Year productions, Thesis Festival presentations in February, and occasional other events. This student will also help the Lead videographer fill DVD copy orders from students for the various productions, throughout the academic year.

Expectations:

  • Report on time for scheduled work hours
  • Maintain accurate records of hours worked
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion
  • Report weekly progress to Dr. Julie Fox
  • Assist Lead Videographer with archival digitization project.
  • Assist Lead Videographer with filming student productions
  • Maintain organization and storage of physical video recordings until digitization is complete and backed up
  • Other duties, as needed, such as answering the phone and assisting with clerical needs in the busy program office.

Qualifications:

  • Aptitude for computer and video equipment
  • Great organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively to make steady progress on this project
  • Ability to maintain Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to document archive progress and orders for DVD recordings
  • Excellent public relations skills for phone inquiries and greeting visitors to the program office

Skills you will develop: Ability to digitize and post video recordings on a password protected website and to make DVD copies of productions for clients.

Hours: 7 -8 hours per week
